Dear readers from time to time rare mystic phenomenon take place on our planet. Since these phenomena are beyond the ordinary human experience we may interpret them as magical or incorrectly. When one does this from a modern perspective that hs in it modern scientific understanding one may not do harm but good instead, In either case one is merely adding to a chain of historical interpretations. I shall write more of this later for often the Almighty expolains apoint through a dream as it just did from me. It explained that one does it to a contemporary phenomenon one may cause much damage to self and others by being the origin of it if it was pubic. Within a small groupn privately it may be more acceptable. Therefore I am presently hiding some of my recent posts under guidance form the Lord as well as a video I put out that concerned one such until I have the time for communion with the Lord.<br />

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Recently, to friends on face book, I had described how I had
suffered much from an illness that was similar to an earlier one suffered in
2007, but just much briefer this time. In 2007 I used to drink much and that
had complicated the illness, making it last several months. Moreover, this time,
having gone through the same illness before, I knew what had to be done for
treatment. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
When illness had struck in 2007, I had ascribed it to
excessive drinking that began soon after death of mother Nando in
1999, to drown my sorrow then. However even then, I had suspected an attack by some
poisons mixed in but was not sure. When the attack came this
time, I knew it was poisons because now I was not drinking. With the grace and help of Babaji, except for an odd social occasion, I stopped drinking in 2007. It has been described in my earlier books and blogs on Babaji.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Immediately I secured my kitchen and discarded all existing
food rations into the compost pile just as I had done in 2007. They were
replaced with rations bought from far away shops incase my regular shops were
polluting supplies in return for a bribe from minions of Satan. Within days I
recovered and posted progress on face book for public, family and friends.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
I did another thing, this time. I moved the furniture around
so that my bed was now on the South wall of the bedroom instead of the North
one as earlier. My computer table was pushed into that place instead. The new
arrangement was much more comfortable and made me wonder why I had not thought
of it before but that is how humans are. They go on moving in old grooves until
crisis strikes to consider a change.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Yesterday morning around 11 am much recovered from my recent
illness, I sat on the newly placed computer table to do some writing work, when
suddenly my head begin to swim. A relapse was taking place. I immediately moved
to the bed too ponder what is it that I ate now? Looking at the window in front
of me, I knew the cause immediately. A shiver ran down through my spine. I had
done much to eliminate toxins in food but done nothing to eliminate toxins in
the air we breathe. The window in more that 25 years old. It has a section for
old-fashioned window ACs that was covered up by a wooden board. Gaps had
developed on its side because with rain and time the plywood used had swelled
up. It is no longer required in modern homes with split AC. I had plans to
cover it with bricks because it is also a security risk. Robbers use it to
enter homes by cutting the grill there. In fact the bricks had been ordered.
Around a hundred of them to cover portions of two such windows in the home and
two different ones in a basement room for other reasons but the mason had not
arrived. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Now I knew the mason will not arrive. Just as the Lord and
his angels can reach into godly human minds to influence events, the devil and
his minions can reach into other minds to interrupt events similarly.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
I prayed to Bhole Nath for guidance and the answer came soon
as I stopped thinking. Mystics, including scientific ones like Einstein
received answers thus, in his words, approximately here, because exact quote is
not at hand,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“ I think hundred times about a problem and cannot find the
answer. I stop thinking and the answer arrives”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
My answer was,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“ The mason will not come. Get up and do it yourself”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
I picked up the bricks, two at a time from the pile and
brought them indoors, some cement and sand too near the window. I have taught
bricklaying to many a mason in past. The theory is known but from age and lack
of practice it is difficult to do for me know. Just using my bare hands to
apply the mortar, I began placing the bricks. Slowly the opening was covered.
By evening, I was exhausted, I returned to the bed to admire my work when
something wonderful happened. My head cleared up, as it had not for a dozen
years. It used to be a sharp and alert brain that had led me into a career of
science once but not since twelve years ago. Immediately also came the
realization that I have suffered intermittent toxic attacks all through these
dozen years from an evil minion or minions of Satan. Dear friends, just as the
Lord above ever strives to bring his followers closer to him, the devil is ever
engaged in interrupting this. Saintly or godly persons have suffered such
attacks through human history. It becomes a part of their education to raise
them ever higher, albeit difficult, when that education is on.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
On Wednesday night, I worked on my computer at 2 AM for the
first time after years even as I do the same tonight to write this post. Last
night I realized that the other three openings had to be sealed in a hurry too.
I had sealed one. It had exhausted me physically. The other three were beyond
my capacity to do in a hurry. I prayed to the Lord again and the answer came,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“ Soon as it is light, call a cab and head for the labor
market and there you shall find a laborer to help”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Just a laborer was needed now to carry bricks etc. The mason
was already there – me. I waited for light to strike but did not waste the time
until then, using the time to place tools where they would be needed, sieving
sand that would be needed etc. for the work later. Soon the birds began to sing
and morning was at hand. I prayed again to the Lord,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“ Should I have a little breakfast, and rush out to the
casual labor market right away”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“NO”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“Why Lord, you said last night. I must go as soon as morning
strikes”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“Why do you need breakfast, go now”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
I rushed out, the gate after calling in the cab, there the
driver by name of Rakesh was pulling in,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“What is your destination sir?”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“My destination is my home, we are going to the labor
market, to get a laborer”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
There, down the road, swinging along was Rakesh the laborer,
yes, same name. He hopped into our car and said leave everything to me now.
Within minutes as if by magic he began putting up the walls as I began to
chant,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Ram Ram</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
I cried with joy when the work was done. I suspected it was
not Rakesh the laborer who was doing it but Babaji Haidakhan himself who had
helped similarly in past. I asked my code question,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“ Rakesh, have you ever eaten half a kg of ghee?’’</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“ He said, yes, I drank half a kg straight in my village
once.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
I knew it was Babaji then. I asked Rakesh could I take a
picture and share with friends. He said,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“ Sure.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Then he got up to leave. His eyes became red with anger.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“The Lord shall not spare, the evil doer this time. He shall
meet his horrible fate. Then the anger vanished the smile retuned as he got up
to leave and waive goodbye</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The Almighty Lord as Bhole Nath via Babaji via Rakesh had come to help in a
moment of crisis once again. The only words on my lips were,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“Jai Bhole, Jai Bhole” as tears of relief streamed down my
face.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
PS: Pics attached with this post are hurried ones taken for
a face book posting last evening. The bricked portion needs finishing. That shall be done slowly over time for while construction is frenzied, aesthetics is a thing for peace and ease</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<b><span style="color: #660000;">Update 4.30 am, same night,</span></b><br />
<br />
As i reflect further on the matter, from some of the things Rakesh said and did (for example he was unable to move mud with a spade that all laborers can with ease, even less than me at this age) it now seems he may not be a laborer at all but a security person from high places whom I communicate on twitter etc. often in public interest, and who know of my connections even mech71 does not know but can be traced easily by agencies from public records. However, whoever, there is no doubt in my mind that during most of his masonry help Babaji had entered his being, for he was a good man, an honest and godly person that divine enters with ease, He waivered once and noting that he was reverting to Rakesh, I began jap of<br />
<br />
Ram Ram<br />
<br />
And Babaji returned<br />
<br />
I do not need much sleep when in good health having stayed up all nights many a times in my international travel phase.<br />

Last month, one morning I woke up with an intuition that a
college friend, Rajat would be visiting Jaipur. He currently lives in America
and it had been a long time since I had heard from him. Excitedly, I rushed an
email to him that I am in Jaipur currently and I heard that he is coming here, and it would be nice if he came and
stayed with me this time instead of a hotel where he usually stays during his
many travels around the world.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> It would be an opportunity to catch up. </span>A reply
came that he was indeed coming to India in early April but not to Jaipur. Then
few days later another excited email arrived from him,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="background: white; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background: white; color: #222222; font-family: "arial";">Dear Ashok, thank you for wishing me luck. You are not only wise but
possess some special powers because of meditating and being a yogi. A good
evidence of that is I am coming to Jaipur for a book event on the 6th of April.
Initially Jaipur was not on my schedule but magically it is now happening. Love
to invite you to the function and call ch up (read catch up) with you after the
event. I will send you the particulars as soon as I know. Thanks again for your
thoughts. Warm regards </span><span style="color: #222222; font-family: "arial";">Rajat</span></blockquote>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
It was indeed a wonderful meeting that I have described in
another blog reserved for the doings of our college friends, graduates of IIT
Delhi <a href="https://mech71.blogspot.com/2019/04/rajat-gupta-in-jaipur-mind-without-fear.html">(it
is here)</a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Surprisingly, another intuition arrived today morning
that he might be coming again to Jaipur soon, it was less clear this time since
last few days have been rushed. For intuitions to be clear the mind has to be
fully at peace and the heart full of bliss perhaps. However would hate to miss such an opportunity if it was indeed so. Therefore, immediately
I rushed a similar invitation to him again. My concern though was if it was too
soon the summer heat is presently on in Jaipur.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I suggested perhaps we could even make a quick visit to Nainital
and seek blessings of Naini Mata the Mother Goddess of Miracles as well as
enjoy the beautiful and refreshingly cool environs around Nainital.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Naini Mata is the name used for the form and appearance of
the Great Mother Goddess in Nainital and she has a small shrine by the lake
dedicated to her. Although, I have written about her in blogs and also a small
book on her, perhaps the only one on her in English Language (<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Naini-Mata-Nainital-Ashok-Malhotra/dp/1461159229">see
here</a>) I have never before described her with that name. However, she is
indeed a goddess of Miracles and I have described some that I personally
experienced in an older post (<a href="https://nainitalgoddess.blogspot.com/2017/05/naini-mata-engineering-education-and.html">see
here</a>). Many of those who visit her shrine to seek her blessings and thank
her indeed receive what they might need miraculously. Like a loving mother
who does not necessarily give to an infant what they ask but gives unasked what they might
need most, Naini Mata does the same and when she does it, her generosity overflows with her love.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
May Naini Mata – the Mother Goddess of Miracles - add love,
peace and happiness in the lives of all who seek her
blessings.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Those who love God and his angels, the gods and goddesses
and engage in their service whenever opportunity permits, do not miss out on
anything of their own needs. Like a loving parent, God does not give us all we want but He gives us what we need. These are provided with ease by Him and the
gods. From time to time, there are special gifts from them, by the love and grace of the Lord. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Every year, during one of the months of monsoons called
Savan, village fairs calls melas in local language are held near Siva
temples across several towns of northern India. I had described a visit to one in an
earlier post. I rarely visit the temple itself on such Mondays because there is
long line outside the temple. My own belief is that if you carry the love of
the Lord in your heart, one does not have to visit a temple for it. God is
everywhere. I just convey my greetings to the Lord from a distance, from a
place where just the roof of the temple is visible because of the trees. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Going through the various stalls in the fair is fun. There
are stalls with street foods that I avoid, my own diet being a highly
controlled one now. I loved street foods when younger but they would play havoc with my stomach now. Stalls’
selling various nick-knack and things one needs around the home are focus of my
attention. Often, one finds things useful for the home at rock bottom prices. I
find here gifts for my grand children and gifts for people who work for me off
and on in the garden or around the home and things for myself too. When I find
something especially useful at a negligible price, it is indeed a gift from the
gods. This year I picked up a couple of shirts that were beautiful, one a half
sleeved pink one and another blue dress shirt, both with elegant embroided pin
stripes in white. During my professional years, I mostly wore white shirts. I
still have a huge collection of white shirts but few colored ones. Therefore,
these colored shirts were much needed.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
When I came home and tried the shirts, they were perfect
fits. They are indeed loving gifts from the Lord, the blue one from Lord Shiva
since it is his favorite color and the pink one from his consort the mother
goddess, it being one of her favorite colors.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The blue one has been repacked for use on a special occasion, but I wear
the pink one on Fridays.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>A picture of
both placed on my bed was just snapped to go with the post.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Praise the Lord, praise Lord Shiva, and praise the mother
goddess</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">T</span>he Almighty, beyond comprehension of finite minds has been
referred to by an infinite number of names through the universe, wherever
intelligent life capable of worship of the Infinite Lord exists. One of these
names, popular in South Asia is Shiv (Shiva).</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The almighty beyond form and comprehension has also been
worshiped in an infinite number of forms in the universe, some human, for the
Lord everywhere has an infinite number of faces and forms too</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Some hold that for ease of worship of human devotees, who
wish to visualize the Lord in human form, the Lord appeared as the sage Shankar
in Himalayas. Others hold that having attained
the most advanced stage of yoga through worship of the Lord known as Shiva, the
sage Shankar merged his soul and identity with Lord Shiva and was then known as
Shiv Shankar. The true mysteries of Almighty are not known fully even to the
loftiest of beings, the angels of heaven. Only He knows Himself. Nevertheless,
for ordinary human wishing to worship the Lord as Shiva in human form, the name
used is Shiv Shankar.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Some hold that the Sage Shankar has reincarnated many a
times in Central Himalayas around the currently named districts of Nainital and
Almora and that the most recent such appearance was as Baba Haidakhan
(1950-1984, in public 1970-1984) also known as Babaji to devotees. Babaji
recommended the value of reciting holy names as a path of spiritual attainment.
The recitation of holy names aloud or silently without sound is known as Jap in
Sanskrit tradition. It is a recommended practice across spiritual and mystic
traditions of the world and elsewhere in the universe where life capable of
recitation exists.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The recommended holy words or spiritual mantra by Babaji was</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #0b5394;"><b>Om Namah Shivay</b></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
It means Almighty I praise thee (or offer salutations) as
Shiva</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Due to its Sanskrit words and somewhat difficult meaning
some find this mantra difficult and perhaps you might like to begin with a simpler one. There is is a
favorite of this author whenever one wishes to visualize the Lord in human form
for worship. It is,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: blue;"><b>Jai Shiv Shankar</b></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Its meaning is praises upon the Almighty as the Lord Shiv
Shankar</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
If you choose this mantra for Jap then consider it in four
syllables, with one syllable each recited with an inward or outward breath. Stabilization
of breathing and thought is a necessary perquisite for deriving benefits of
mantra recitation. The four syllables are</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: blue;"><b>Jai- Shiv -Shan- Kar</b></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
This mantra is exceedingly simple and exceedingly
beneficial, capable of raising mundane human existence to the level of gods. It
can be practiced anywhere but lonely mountain or forest surroundings are the
best for highest levels of attainment.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />

An even simpler mantra preferred by some is Ram. It is another name for the Lord in South Asia as also of the Lord appearing as a godly king. This brief recording of mine entitled Naam Jaap ( the recitation of a holy name) of this mantra is on Youtube<br />

While God is everywhere in the universe, in different parts
of it, one sees his power in different names and forms. In Nainital it is as
Naini Mata, the lovely goddess of the pristine Himalayan Lake of Nainital, a
daughter of the most majestic of lakes on Earth, Mansarovar, higher up in the
Himalayas from where she draws her water through underground water channels. It
is so believed by many, although not yet verified by modern scientific methods
but believers need no such proof.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
My own work in life has spanned from modern science and
technology to the spiritual side of life through social, educational and
philosophical work. While in one area of activity, I try not to mix in the
other for clarity for just as one does not talk of one’s home affairs in
office, one does not talk of office work at home for best life practices.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
However segregation of activities requires the use of some
tools. Thus when unusual spiritual events intrude into another area of life one
might just say that it is a coincidence, or fate as I did while writing a note
on police reforms in India in another blog of mine that includes such
topics.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I shall reproduce that note
here because it stems from Nainital and then explain the magic of Naini Mata,
the beloved goddess in it for behind all things the power is that of the Lord.</div>

colonial past, in the arena of public services, there is much that needs
improvements in India. One of these is policing. An insidious practice has
developed in India to demand long and inhumane working hours from the force.
This had led to poor physical and psychological health as well as poor family
life of Indian policemen. Such a force cannot be expected to provide quality
service to public. While many suggestions for improving the police force have
been put forth by individuals and institutions in India, few have been followed
up. However, yesterday the High Court at Nainital passed a judgment that is a
key element of police reforms in India.<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It has been mentioned in a companion blog, how
the Lovely Himalayan Town of Nainital built around the lake of the goddess
Naini has been at forefront of many changes not just in India but also the
world since its inception in mid nineteenth century. The present police reforms
adds another feather in its cap. </div>

<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
This Author's interest in the Matter</div>
<br />
Emerging from a rich life experience and international
education, I have contributed many ideas in my blogs with a hope that they
would lead to improvements in various areas of human activity. These were areas
in which I had personal experience and interests. Policing was not one of them
until 2009. At that time I had joined an educational institute in Nainital
district as its Director. On my joining, a dear former student, Ashok Kumar,
who had joined the Indian police service read about it in the local newspaper
and immediately called me. He came to visit me with his wife the very next day.
Inspector General Ashok Kumar, was the senior most police functionary not just
of Nainital District but the entire Kumaon region, of which Nainital is a part,
at that time. He has become more senior since and moved to the State Capital.
Inspired by many conversations with him in that period as also a book - Human
in Khaki – that he wrote around that time in Nainital, I began to ponder over
how policing might be improved in India. The book by Ashok Kumar can
be found here,<br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><a href="https://www.amazon.in/Human-Khakhi-Ashok-Kumar/dp/8128834185">https://www.amazon.in/Human-Khakhi-Ashok-Kumar/dp/8128834185</a></span><br />
As fate would have it my neighbor at that time was the
senior most police official of Nainital District under Ashok Kumar and his wife
a fellow board member of another Educational Institute in Nainital District,
the Birla Institute at Bhimtal. Soon after I wrote a public note containing six
suggestions on how policing may be improved in India. I have sent links of this
note to the highest authorities in India but little was done since. Even when a
service is in need of improvements, there are vested interests that benefit
from the deficiency. Sadly the will and energy of these latter persons far
exceeds the will of those who might bring about changes for better. Therefore
shortcomings persist for decades on ends. That note can be found here<br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/notes/malhotra-ashok/six-steps-to-strengthening-the-policing-system-in-india/575937605755225/">https://www.facebook.com/notes/malhotra-ashok/six-steps-to-strengthening-the-policing-system-in-india/575937605755225/</a></span><br />
However, the Nainital High Court, <span style="background: white; color: #333333;">on the PIL of Arun Kumar Bahdauria of
Uttarakhand, </span>has now ordered one of the suggestions of this note
–Humane working hours. It imposed humane working hours, not exceeding eight
hours per day of duty along with a slew of other humane measures for police
personnel in the hill state of Uttarakhand of India. It is expected that citing
this judgment, this change will soon spread through other states and union
territories of India through similar court orders when interested persons
approach them. There could be some modifications of this judgment in other
states or on appeals to the Supreme Court of India but it is not possible that
conditions will revert back to earlier inhumane hours since that is a violation
of basic human rights and right to life. A newspaper report on the matter can
be found here,<br />

The visit of 2009 to Nainital as mentioned in the note had
been after a long gap and it was natural for the lovely mother goddess to throw
a ring of protection around a loved son, hence the senior most police
dignitaries around me. It was neither fate nor coincidence. More so because my
work was in a secluded forested area in the plains below the hill in Nainital
district. However, every month I would climb the hill to visit the lake and the
temple of the goddess by the lake, deciding to stay in its beautiful
surroundings for a few days. On such visits, through a set of circumstances, the
lovely Mother Goddess would arrange for me lodgings in one of the most beautiful
and secure locations in Nainital known as the Raj Bhavan. At one time the
British had located these lodgings as the most secure and ideal one as a
getaway place for Her Majesty Queen Victoria after scouting thee entire British
Empire over which the sun never set. This is described in another older note in
this blog here,<br />

My mother’s name was Nand Rani Malhotra (1924-1999) but
except for official purposes all knew her by just her home name of, Nando. One
of the most significant phases of her life was spent in Nainital and she loved
this town, as did the people of Nainital who met her then in the fifties and
knew her simply by her home name of Nando. The more humble of Kumaon who came
to know her closely said she is a Devi but to me she was just mother. She lived
a simple life of a housewife serving her family with full dedication but
simultaneously she did not miss an opportunity to serve anyone she came across.
In Nainital she contributed her opinion to the leading voices of the town
urging them to retain the best of customs and unique heritage of the town that
the British had created and left. Some of these continue until this day.<br />

Among the various single word mantras for meditation and
chanting, the divine name Ram is one of the most excellent and easiest to
practice.<br />
<br />
In my mystic travels through Nainital District in the summer of 2007,
I learnt a particularly beautiful and rhythmic way to recite this mantra. Its
effects were magical. Some of those effects have been described by me in <a href="http://ashokbabaji.blogspot.com/">another blog</a> devoted to
spirituality. This recitation was recently recorded by me in three YouTube
videos so as to make them available to any interested person. One of them is as
shown with this post.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Ancient records describe that Ram was also the favorite
mantra of Lord Hanuman a divinity revered highly in Nainital,
India and all over East Asia. Ancient recorded descriptions of Hanuman ji
vary from nation to nation. It is because, no human can fully know or
understand the divine and therefore all human words about Him and His Angels
are approximate attempts. However, through love and devotion, one can sense His
love as also of His Angels as well as the blessings in one’s heart. One may experience
magical effects in physical life.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
One can find an exhaustive summary about Lord Hanuman and
his worship throughout India
and East Asia in Wikipedia. Our Universe is
inhabited with many different life forms and humans are neither the most
evolved nor the only intelligent life form in the universe. There is greater
description of this from a scientific standpoint in <a href="http://alienaccout.blogspot.com/">another blog</a> of mine. It is only
limited knowledge and ego of humans that make some think they are the only
intelligent race in the universe. Even on Earth different intelligent races
have appeared in past. One of them as per literature was the Vanar race. It is
now extinct. This race had some characteristics similar to humans including the
ability of speech like humans and some similar to monkeys that included a tail
as well as some of the physical characteristics of monkeys. The Divine Hanuman
to appear on Earth was born in this race.<br />
<br />
The impact of any mantra woul differ somewhat from person to person since each personality is unique with its own storehouse of unique experiences. For me this mantra appears to drive consciousness towards divine parts of the created universe as compared to another single word Supreme mantra, Om, that for me drives consciouness towards the eternal infinite consciousness.<br />

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Humans err in trying to find the worthiest among rich and
famous. They are just like many among us, many are just better at feathering
their nests, often by exploiting other humans. The worthiest of humans may more
easily be found among simple hermits and others living in quiet isolated abodes.
No wise and compassionate human can accumulate a huge amount of wealth and be
proud of that when there are millions of children suffering from hunger or
malnutrition. Saint Kabir has stressed this point. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Only a few humans can find contentment in the simplicity of
a hermit. Most must continue to strive in the world for needs they perceive as
essential for themselves and their families. But all can strive to reserve a
portion of their time and energy to serve the world around them. It is only
then that one becomes deserving of help from the Universe. Little can be
achieved without such help. Our very breath comes because the Universe cares
for us every moment of our lives. It is because we are children of Father
Universe and Mother Earth that is but a part of him. Would we not become more
worthy if we similarly care for children, not just ours but also others that we
encounter and can help even in small ways? </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Children are the most precious of all life on Earth and it
surely pleases the Universal eye when we make some happy. If one finds enough
wealth to spare, then one can help children and others in need with a portion
of one’s wealth too. Some of the richest persons have switched to a ‘give’ mode
from a ‘gimme’ mode such as Warren Buffet and Bill Gates. Others are still
trapped in it. Hopefully they too shall change their stance, for greed is one
of the doors to hell according to the Bhagvat Gita or as the folk lore puts it
metaphorically yet accurately,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Gimme, gimme, more, more</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
To the bottomless pit opens a door</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Yet there are few humans who are divine or angelic beings
born on Earth to help distressed humans or others on their way to becoming one
and it is such as these that can find joy in utter simplicity and spend all
their time in service of others or in purifying their souls so as to become
worthy of becoming angelic companions of the Lord some day. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Jesus Christ was a divine being that took birth on Earth on
Christmas day to rescue humans from their distress. He reiterated that when one
serves the needs of a child one serves the Lord.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
An ancient Sanskrit, Bhāgavata Purāna, record, From Canto 4,
Chapter 12 , describes the tale of another that became an angelic being through
purification <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>as described in an earlier
post in this blog and repeated here. <br />
<br />
“<i>King Dhruva realized that this universe consisting of God's external
energy was just like a dream. He considered everything created comprising his
body, his wives, children, friends, his influence, riches, the pleasure
grounds, the facilities for his women and the beauty of the earth with its
oceans, as something transient and for that reason he left for the Himalayan
forest. There he purified his body, bathing in pure water and in yoga
postures, controlled the breathing process by withdrawing the mind from his
physical senses. Concentrating on the Lord he constantly kept in mind, he thus
became fully absorbed in the Lord. Constantly engaged in his devotion for
Lord, the Supreme Personality he attained everlasting bliss and again and again
overcome by a stream of tears that made his heart melt and all the hairs of his
body stand on end. He no longer remembered that he had a body and was thus
liberated being materially bound. </i><br />
<br />
<i>Dhruva then saw a very beautiful heavenly vehicle descending from the sky
which illumined him and the ten directions as if the full moon itself had
appeared. Therein he discerned two beautiful demigods with four arms, a
blackish skin, being quite young and with eyes as pink as a lotus flower. They
held clubs and were attractively dressed and decorated with helmets, bracelets,
necklaces and earrings. Understanding them to be two Angels of the Lord,
he stood up, respectfully joined his hands offering his respects while Nanda
and Sunanda, the two angels of the One smilingly approached and addressed him.
Nanda and Sunanda said, “Oh best of kings! All good fortune to you! Listen
attentively to our words. You are the one who greatly satisfied God by doing
penance. You have achieved the world of the Lord that is so difficult to
achieve that not even the greatest of enlightenment could reach there. Come and
see the supreme abode around the moon, the sun, the other planets and the stars
are rotating. Then in having paid his obeisance to the two associates, whose
form shone with golden effulgence Dhruva got on board”</i></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">T</span>he Kingdom of Piland Chronicles is a record of the doings of a new
Kingdom established in a seemingly unclaimed portion of the Antarctica
in July 2014. As stated in the chronicles, due to the remoteness and cold
nature of the kingdom, no significant activity has taken place in the
kingdom, at least as yet. Nevertheless, some of its stated policies are
significant enough for the rest of the world to draw inspiration from. First is
the policy of running a democracy by creating the parliament from a random
selection of citizens and not permitting the concept of a political party or
elections. This idea has been drawn from ancient Athens. In this manner the kingdom
completely avoids the role of money in elections and selection of persons who
work for money rather than people. The chronicles contain detailed arguments
for this policy. The second significant initiative is to tie its currency to
gold. The five hundred dollar coin of the kingdom is a ten gram coin in fine gold.
In this manner manipulation of the currency by banks and governments is
overcome and wealth of the citizens is safeguarded. A third significant
initiative is the complete and full legalization of cannabis considering it
just like lettuce or any other herb. It is pointed out that for thousands of
years that is how it was with humans and created no significant problem. All of
its modern problems seem to be because of its illegal status.<br />

The reader of this blog may wonder what connection the
kingdom has with Nainital. The king has been inspired much by Babaji Haidakhan
and his message of Love, Truth and simplicity is inscribed on the coat of arms
of the king. The coat of arms also depicts the roof of the Naini Mata temple of Nainital along with images of lions as
accompany the Mother Goddess.</div>

The importance of Hanuman Chalisa has been described in an
<span style="color: blue;"><i><a href="https://nainitalgoddess.blogspot.in/2017/05/hanuman-chalisa-mantra-par-excellence.html" target="_blank">earlier post</a><u>.</u></i></span> (click on link to see). It was originally composed in Hindi (Awadhi) by Tulsidas. At the present
time there are many persons around the world who would like to recite this
mantra but are unfamiliar with the Hindi Script. Many transcriptions in English
are available on the net, each with some variations. The present version is a fresh
attempt that has tried to remain as close as possible to the original
pronunciation. However the interested person can get many song versions of this
on the net to learn the correct pronunciation while using this text to read
simultaneously. After a few attempts, just reading will suffice to yield, more
or less, the correct pronunciation.<br />
<br />
It is not necessary to be able to read the Hanuman Chalisa in the original or any other script. Many illiterate persons have derived full benefit from it after learning it by heart. What is necessary is to pronounce the words as correctly as possible. Feel free to copy and make a print of this
if you wish. The Hanuman Chalisa consists of forty verses along with
introductory and concluding verses. The numbering and titles are for clarity,
not pronouncing while reading. </div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Some things are best kept private in silence at the time
they happen but with<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>passage of time
one may reveal them as in this note, seven years having passed. Before
we begin with the stated topic, it is necessary to say a bit about myself and
my involvement in all of this</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
From childhood, I have been interested in the spiritual and
mystic side of life.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>As completion of
high school neared, the question arose in the family as to what career I should
take up. My father was interested in an army or administrative career for me.
It was the best practice in the family. However noting that such careers do not
permit freedom to travel or choose places where one would live and work, I was
against it.<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Therefore, I joined a program in engineering at the Indian Institute
of Technology. During some training programs in industry, I was aghast at the
confinement in narrow cabins or shop floors in high walled security compounds
that engineers had to spend eight hours or more a day in. To me it seemed like
a prison for slaves. My soul was not born for it. Therefore I decided then and
there to continue studies up to doctoral level in USA
or Canada.
It would give me an opportunity to travel that I looked forward to much when
younger as also lead to an academic job later where one has the freedom to move
about on green university campuses. It may bring less money than some other
pursuits, but money has never been a priority for me in life. I have repeatedly
turned away from opportunities for more money all through life, if it implied
compromising ethics, freedom and environment of living. That is how I ended up
being a professor and scientist in some of the finest universities on our
planet.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Through a life full of many events and adventures, many a
time, I came close to grave danger but all those times a mysterious force, a
loving hand, saved me from trouble. I recognize that now as the Love of God in
His various facets and manifestations, a prominent one among them being Naini
Mata, the goddess of Nainital because I had spent my childhood in Nainital.
However on my part a debt remained. I had left Nainital early in childhood and
although there were brief visits, I had not made any contribution to the
beautiful district of Nainital over which the goddess presides. My educational contributions
in both science and mysticism had been in the wider world. In 2008, I realized
that although I could make social and spiritual contributions to the district all through
my life, it would not be possible to do much on the technical side beyond the
age of sixty and here I was, already 58 years old.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
I rushed to the internet to check the status of engineering
education in the district of Nainital. I could not find any institute or
university involved in that in the district as existed at that time, except for a restricted effort in Bhimtal of which the goddess made me a member of the board of governors later, but there
was one that had begun in this direction. It was called Amrapali Institute of
Technology and Sciences or AITS for short. Immediately I sent a letter to their
management with my resume, that I would be happy to come to the Institute and
serve them in a senior capacity towards improving technical education in their
Institute, while in my heart it was for the the District of Nainital.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
While humans believe that they do whatever they do, it is
only the spiritual who realize that behind it all is the mystic power of God
and the numerous gods and goddesses through whom this power flows. In Nainital
it is Naini Mata or Goddess Nanda often accompanied by her younger sister the
goddess Sunanda in times of peace, for while the goddess Nanda surrounded by
her lions is ever ready to go to war on evil, her sweet sister Sunanda
surrounded by lotuses prefers to take care of the well being of her human
children in times of peace. The mystic secrets of how Naini Mata organized the
development of the district beginning<span style="color: red;"> <span style="color: black;">in 1840</span></span>,
as appropriate for the <span style="color: red;"><span style="color: black;">modern age</span>,</span> soon after
Queen Victoria ascended the throne in England has been revealed in earlier
posts of this blog. The goddess had to involve the British for this for the
Indians of the time had no technical skills to develop a hill district.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
By the 1900’s Nainital town and the surrounding district had
been developed to the best standards in the world as existed at that time. It
was time now for the goddess to inspire training of her Indian subjects in engineering skills
too, so that they need not depend on foreigners from far away. Unfortunately,
there was not a single place for engineering education in all of South Asia at that time. Soon after, the goddess inspired
a conference in Nainital in 1908 of educationists and administrators of that
time as to how to begin it in India.
As a result of this conference the first institutes of engineering began to be
established in India at <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>HBTI in Kanpur and
the Thomson College in Roorkee. Thus began technical
education in India
too.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
However in my survey in late 2008, I found that while
technical education had become widespread throughout India there was hardly any to speak of in Nainital District
itself except AITS and that is how I entered the picture. My letter had been
sent and soon after the goddess entered the hearts and mind of the management
of the Institute to come all the way to Jaipur and to ask me to come and join
them. While God gives full freedom to humans to make free choices He/She can organize circumstances so that karmic choices are made. The Institute is largely looked after by the son of the founder - Professor
Sanjay Dhingra. The father himself had other educational work to take care of in distant Modi Nagar. Two other partners who
were roped in were One Mr. Monga with background in Timber business and
familiar with land acquisitions required to set up the Institutes. Mr. Monga had the wisdom and grace of age that comes when a life is led well and his presence in the partnership brought in maturity. One more was
a cousin Mr. Narendra Dhingra who joined in to help as the fourth partner in this educational enterprise.. The latter two had nearly no
previous background in education so the task of developing these Institutes
fell largely on the shoulder of Professor Sanjay Dhingra. It was he who came
all the way to Jaipur to organize my appointment at AITS and I readily agreed.
He asked me what salary I might need and I mentioned that was irrelevant for in
my heart was service for my goddess mother<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>except for facilities as required for my work such as dedicated
transport, adequate office and furnished accommodation in secluded green area
that had become my life style since the age of forty or so. Nevertheless,
Sanjay was generous and urged me throughout my stay as to why I do not claim
expenses even as he does but I replied that it was not necessary. Simultaneously the grace of the goddess saw to it that I became a member of the Board of Governors of the Institute at Bhimtal too. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The Institute had begun admitting students three years prior
to that and the first batch was to graduate in 2010. When I arrived at the Institute
I was shocked at the mess the place was in. The building was partially
unconstructed, unsecured, equipment being stolen, students rebelling and
indulging in fights as young persons will when not channeled in positive
directions, no sense of order at all. A computer science faculty member was sharing
a room with one from English and so on. There was neither any department, nor any
office of the Institute. Students were being asked to go sit in any class and
few were taking place. The central office of the group of Institutes sent me
printed forms called Transfer Certificates as required in high schools but not
university level education and the class timings were also organized as high
school class periods of 45 minutes each. No one here had any idea of what
university level technical education is. Much of the faculty was young
graduates and the senior ones were from sciences etc. not engineering. There
was construction rubble all over and in the corridors too where a series of
constructed but unoccupied rooms lay with no one knowing what to do with them.
Nevertheless, the buildings were of good quality, thanks to the dedication of
Mr. Dhingra and a very competent expert, Professor K K Pande who had
contributed to the design but left before my arrival.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
But with grace of the goddess, I was able to fix it all
within a year beginning with ethical education to students in a fatherly manner,
training the faculty in teaching methods, organizing offices and furniture for
them, fixing labs and central offices, appointing deans, heads of departments,
foreman, faculty in charges, organizing a developmental conferences, time
tables, and administrative procedures. fixing corridors, gardens and pathways
around the building and so on and cultural activities for students ending with
a grand farewell party for the first batch that graduated in 2010. A huge feast was laid out along the orchard in front of the Institue. I noticed little children of gardeners looking at the tables with greedy eyes and rushed to bring them by the hand to the tables and fill plates for them first. Altough humans do not realize this, if kind gestures are missed for the vulnerable of society human endeavors get cursed rather then blessed by the gods. It is because of this much suffering prevails in such areas for while compassion produces joy, selfishness and greed leads to misery and debilitating diseases that end lives in pain. Earlier one of my first pay raises at the Institute were for the lowest paid staff, the sanitary staff for similar reasons.<br />
<br />
I had become
sixty years old now and it was time to bid goodbye to it all, leaving its
future fate in the hands of the gods even as Naini Mata left the fate for her
beloved district in the hands of those who followed the British. For while the
gods intervene they give freedom to their human children too with a saying from
South Asia – <i>Ab sanwar lo ya bigad lo, tumara hai</i> – or to quote from my book, Mystic pathways to peace, love and
happiness,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 110%; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 110%;">“Like a gentle mother, who allows her
offspring to play and mess about in a yard, even trample down her precious beds
of painfully nurtured flowers, Mother Earth too allows her children that
freedom. It is because of that we have filthy oil spills, scarred and
strip-mined patches of land, mercilessly logged forests, spills of chemical
wastes from our factories, filthy slum habitations of Latin America, European
Gypsy camps, slums of India
and Indonesia
with rape and hunger infested refugee camps of the world. These ugly scars and
spots on Mother Earth do not for a moment mean that Mother Earth is ugly. It is
just a temporary thing, like the flowerbeds trampled upon by unruly children.
When the play is over and children back in bed, mother would come around and
fix those flower beds and forests once again. Like every good mother, Mother
Earth is stern from time to time. When she gets angry, she shakes her bosom
like an earthquake, roars like a hurricane or thunders like the floods drowning
her children into a corner stool as temporary punishment.”</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 110%; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 110%;">I do feel that the Mother was pleased
with my effort, for soon after I returned, she granted me the honor of naming
one of the most sacred Mountains on earth as Sunanda Devi
Mountain. It had earlier
been called Nanda Devi East. Perhaps with this my <span style="font-family: inherit;">name has entered the eternal records of heavens, the heavely abode of the goddesses Nan<span style="font-family: inherit;">da and Sunanda,</span> for as long as the Himalayas s<span style="font-family: inherit;">ta</span>nd.</span> While in Nainital too she looked after me as every
loving mother would look after her beloved child who has come from far to visit
her in old age. The Senior most and most powerful administrative officer of the
district and neighboring districts ( I G Ashok Kumar, came to visit me and left
his contacts and numbers to say they were at my beck and call for any need that
may arise as was the senior most police officer of the District who became a neighbor.</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 110%; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 110%;">Every month I climbed the hill to pay
my regards to Naini Mata at her shrine besides the lake and while in Naintal
she arranged the grandest lodging for me to stay each and every time – The Raj
Bhavan – a place that was built for Queen Victoria, were she to visit India as
the Empress of the district while she lived and used as summer residences for
governors since. It is a large facility in Nainital and has buildings and rooms
for other select guests who might be chosen for stay.</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 110%; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 110%;">From a parallel hill, Babaji
Haidakhan her beloved son was always by my side. I had last visited his ashram in
Haidakhan in 2007. The ashram provides free meals and rooms for all who choose
to visit just as in Sikh Temples from voluntary contributions. I had mentioned
that the lunch could be improved if Dahi<span style="font-family: inherit;"> (yoghurt) </span>was added to it if they could manage
the funds beginning with a small contribution myself then. A training and
placement officer of the Institute who had been visiting the place insisted on
coming along with me on the new visit. On the way, I stopped our car and said, we
need to buy glucose biscuits for the dogs. This officer was disgusted and
remarked,</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 110%; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 110%;">“I have been so many times to the
ashram, but I have never seen any dogs.”</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 110%; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 110%;">When we arrived at the ashram the
dogs came running out and jumped and squealed in delight all over me to get the
biscuits. In the temple room the priest handed me the tray of Bhog, Prasad to carry to
the mess where all had gathered for lunch and waiting. A grand lunch was served
and a yogini ran out to get a can of dahi that was still not a part of the
lunch. It was a small one but she poured it out herself in plates of all
sitting for lunch and a hundred and one persons had gathered the, more dahi she
served, the more was left in her can, In the end she sent it to the kitchens
for the staff.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: x-large;">S</span>ome years ago when I visited Her temple beside the Lake in Nainital, I looked for a book on Her in stores
nearby. I found a small one in Hindi by Dr. Kiran Kumari.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>There was a need for another one in English
describing much more about Her and Her place in the Universe.
Therefore I decided to undertake this task. My background is one from Science
yet I have had deep interests in the mystic side of life. Therefore when I
wrote this book it was from this combined perspective. It must be admitted that
the task was a difficult one and although the first attempt resulted in a book,
it had shortcomings.. The loving Mother Naini Mata let her child try his hand at this homework on his own without active help. Parts of it were difficult to understand, even
confusing. Therefore, recently I began work on new edition again. This new
version has now been released at Amazon and other stores around the world in
both paperback and electronic formats. It was also an opportunity to improve
the format and layout of book and include a few images.</div>

Father and Mother, in the Christian world it had been mostly Father God until
the mystic Dame Julian of Norwich around 1400, the first woman book author in English language
came and explained to Christians that God may be viewed as a Mother too (See Wikipedia for more on her). It is
worth noting that one of her most ardent follower in recent centuries Robert
Llewellyn came and lived in Nainital for many years as the principal of a
famous local school – Sherwood
College.There he became a family friend of this author's family. When after
retirement he returned to England
he spent his remaining thirty years in the service of Dame Julian at her sanctuary in England. More
can be found on him at:</div>

The book begins with a description of Nainital, a beautiful
town built around a pristine lake in the Himalayas
and the Mother Goddess that presides over the lake since ancient times. The
book then goes on describe relationships between gods and humans, origins of
life on earth based on recent scientific discoveries, the purpose of life and
the journey of a soul.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Dr. Ashok is both
a scientist and an ardent follower of mysticism and this reflects in
presentation of contents that are vast in scope even in a compact book. In the
new revised version of 2017, he has reviewed and reorganized the contents in a
manner so that even some of the difficult parts are easy to understand by the
average reader. The book should interest all, not just thinkers and those
interested in spiritual science.</div>

An extract from the book, Page 5</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
A finite human mind may not know fully all the mysteries of
the universe. It is not possible for humans to know all of that which is not
directly accessible to senses or even scientific instruments and that which is
infinite in extent i.e. God. However one may feel some of the essence of the
divine in one’s heart directly through faith, love and devotion. Whatever is
experienced cannot be described in words for others accurately in a language
born of a finite mind. Perhaps it is because of this that the great poet Saint
Kabir has said,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
From reading many volumes, knowledgeable became none</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Just Two and half words of love is enough to become one</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Therefore, to write anything about the divine and mystic
side can never be fully accurate. However it serves the purpose of satisfying
the curiosity of those interested in the subject. It gives them the initial
information necessary for their own personal spiritual pursuits. For scholars
on the subject, it offers additional material to research and debate and
hopefully improve upon it. For spiritual seekers it may offer new directions to
explore, some that might have escaped their attention, in their spiritual
journey through the universe.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Through a life full of many events and adventures, many a
time I foolishly did wrong things as perhaps most of us do or came close to
grave danger but all those times a mysterious force, a loving hand, saved me
from trouble. I recognize that now as the Love of God in his various facets and
manifestations, a prominent one among them being Naini Mata, the goddess of
Nainital.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The Infinite Almighty has no form that can be comprehended
but those who love him have tried to do so in various names, forms and symbols.
This is perfectly all right as long as one realizes that God is not limited to
that name and form but it is just one of his infinite facets. As the female
side of the Lord who is neither male nor female, humans recognize the Almighty
as the Mother Goddess. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The Mother Goddess has an infinite number of shapes and
forms and a devotee may choose any that he or she becomes familiar with. In the
Himalayas the mother goddess has been recognized as the snow white Parvati, or
indeed in many hues and colors as the goddess Tara in Tibet, as the goddesses
Nanda and Sunanda, as the goddess Durga, Kali Ma or as Naini Mata the goddess
beside the lake in Nainital.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The power of mantra Jap or repetition of select holy words
has been a time tested technique of spiritual development. The recitation of a mantra
stills the mind and drives consciousness closer to its original source. At
other times consciousness gets attached to activities of a finite mind and its
small finite powers.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Some decades ago when modern researchers began to research
effect of mantra recitation on humans, some came to conclusion that even the recitation
of nonsense words like coco cola rather than selected sacred ones were
producing benefit. However it is a grave mistake to do that because in
meditative states consciousness becomes open to connections in the universe and
then there is danger that nonsense or evil of the universe shall enter it.Whatever the mind focuses on, that it tends to attain.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
A modern computer user may compare this to his experience of
a computer. When not connected to the net, its powers are limited to that on
the finite computer. When connected to the net it may multiply hugely. However,
if connection is made to undesirable websites then much malignant-ware may
enter the computer, even destroy it. Therefore, when choosing a mantra for
recitation, choose sacred words of beauty and goodness. The words thus chosen
may be from one’s language, culture or religion or from another provided one
understands the meaning of it. Patanjali, the father of yoga, has stressed that
focus on meaning during recitation of God’s name is beneficial. However, faith
in sacred holiness of the chosen word also helps even when does not understand
the meaning fully. Mantras may be recited loudly or internally with no sound emerging.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
A mantra must have some other properties too. For example, it
must be such that it enhances regular even breathing rather than disrupt it
during recitation. Thus it takes evolved sages to choose the right mantras. Since
the precise breathing apparatus and background of all varies, it remains for an
individual to discover the best mantra for his or her personal spiritual
development perhaps with the help of a spiritual teacher if necessary. A mantra
can be as short as a single word or consist of several words or verses. Some of
the favorites of this author are</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
OM<br />
Ram <br />
Om Namah Shiva<br />
Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti<br />
Om Mani Padme Hum<span style="color: #cc0000;"><i> </i></span><br />
<span style="color: red;"><i>The Complete Gayatri Mantra (In its Sanskrit verses)</i></span><br />
<span style="color: red;"><i>The Complete Hanuman Chalisa</i></span></blockquote>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The Chalisas are the longest of spiritual mantras consisting
of forty grouped couplets along with introductory and concluding verses. Chalisa
means forty in Hindi. Of all the Chalisas, connected to various gods and
goddesses of Himalayas and the plains it
guards, the favorite of this author as well as of millions of others is the
Hanuman Chalisa. The verses of this Chalisa include sacred and holy deeds of
Lord Hanuman as well as about the recitation and power of the mantra and the
name of the author, the sage and divine poet Tulsidas. Being a long mantra, it
is one that is excellent for advanced mystics and scholars as well as the
common man. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The Gayatri mantra in Sanskrit with its advanced spiritual
meaning may be regarded as one best for scholars and priests, but Hanuman
Chalisa belongs to all. It may be read just once to have a beneficial effect
unlike a brief mantra that must be repeated over and over again. or it may be
repeated several times for a longer session. There is a ecommendation within
the verses of seven times being a session with more advanced benefits than just
once. As mentioned in the Hanuman Chalisa and as true for any mantra, spiritual
benefits of mantra recitation is proportional to control one can exercise on
one’s mind and actions. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Youtube has an excellent collection of Hanuman Chalisa
videos by leading lights from the musical world rendered as artistic creations.
Just search for them on google or youtube on your smart phone and listen to some.
These are useful for learning the correct pronunciation of words in the Mantra
but the final recitation must be done by the seeker himself by reading free of
the artistic embellishments. I find the one by Anup Jalota particulary good on youtube. It is at:<br />

The picture with this post is of Lord Hanuman at the gate of
the Naini Mata temple in Naintal snapped by this author some years ago. In
mythology he was a god that belonged to the Vanar race that has monkey like
physical characteristics and abilities such as a tail but also human ones like
speech and intellect and Lord Hanuman was the most learned of beings in the
times he appeared in pre-history. It is believed that he is immortal.</div>

through his blessings and words to pathways of bliss. Now that he is no longer
among us physically, his blessings and intervention in life is still available
to all who love him. Indeed it is available to others too, even those who never
met him or any other saint or divinity that walked upon the face of Mother
Earth, for when God sent forth souls into life, he inscribed knowledge on their

<span style="font-size: x-large;">M</span>uch of my spiritually inspired writing has its roots in
Nainital. My new short novel 2084 Babaji too was inspired similarly. While many
seem to connect it with the famous novel 1984 by George Orwell, the 2084 is the
height of Nainital town in Kumaon. Either way, if you get a chance, do read
this novel. In it is a story of our world, a little village in India and a mystic from the Himalayas.
While being an engrossing story the book is interspersed with mystic knowledge
that shall surely help to make the life of reader more meaningful and joyous.
The book is available at Amazon at the following link as well as several other

In fact false gurus are as old as human civilization and even ancient prophets have warned about them. It is however not difficult to discover them from their fruit. This post in another blog gives seven signs to discover the false ones and the godly ones.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: blue;"><span style="font-size: x-large;">B</span></span>abaji was a mystic who appeared in the Nainital Himalayas
between 1970 and 1984. Many believe that he was a divine being that appears
repeatedly in human body since times immemorial in the Himalayas
with his appearance at Haidakhan being the most recent one. While his origins
must remain a mystery, there is no doubt that he added much peace, happiness
and beauty in the lives of all he touched and that his life and works were magical. Haidakhan is also spelt Hairakhan
because the actual consonant sound used in the word in local language does not
exist in English. It is actually something that is a bit like a mix of an R and
a D sound.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Like many other modern Gurus, Babaji did not accumulate any wealth or luxuries, did not ask anyone to change his religion or become his exclusive follower and devotee but rather encouraged all to remain free in heart and soul devoting oneself to God. Babaji spoke little and his messages spoken in words were
brief. First and foremost was to base one’s life in love, truth and simplicity.
Next is to strive and work to improve self as well as lives of others as long
as one lives. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Most important is love of
God, the universal consciousness that pervades the universe. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Babaji advocated that one can express this love of God in
any manner one is familiar with from one’s religious origins, that of another,
or none at all, for while religious expression belongs to defined groups of
humans, there is only one God in the universe who belongs to all. Babaji
himself appeared in a Hindu environment and therefore he himself regularly
performed Hindu rituals as an expression of his love for God which included the
fire ceremony of Havan, recitation of the mantra – Om Namah Shivaya and also
the singing of holy songs in praise of the Lord in His various manifestations. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The present author is an ardent admirer and follower of Baba
Haidakhan. However I have been exposed to several religions in different parts
of the world as well as much Science through my profession, therefore my own
expression of love for God is based on all of it. Recently I started a new blog
devoted exclusively to spiritual thought based on this.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If you are interested checkout the following

The title Babaji added to the name of person, place or some other word is often used for any person whose primary interest in life becomes the spiritual side of life rather than the material or worldly one and who has attained sufficient progress in same to be able to help others too in their spiritual evolution. Some are divine personalities who appear as humans for brief periods to share their message of love and peace with other humans. Baba Hiadakhan, or Babaji of Haidakhan/Hiarakhan of Nainital district described much in this blog has been a dominant spiritual force and guide to this author.<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Through a life full of many events and adventures, many a
time I foolishly did wrong things as perhaps most of us do or came close to grave danger but all those
time a mysterious force, a loving hand saved me from trouble. I recognize that
now as the Love of God in his various facets and manifestations, a prominent
one among them being Naini Mata, the goddess of Nainital.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The Infinite Almighty has no form that can be comprehended
but those who love him have tried to do so in various names, forms and symbols.
This is perfectly all right as long as one realizes that God is not limited to
that name and form but it is just one of his infinite facets. As a female or as
the female side of the Lord who is neither male nor female, humans recognize the
Almighty as the Mother Goddess. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The Mother Goddess too has an infinite number of shapes and
forms and a devotee may choose any that he or she becomes familiar with. In the
Himalayas the mother goddess has been recognized as the dark goddess Kali or
the snow white one Parvati, or indeed in many hues and colors as the goddess
Tara in Tibet, as the goddesses Nanda and Sunanda, as the goddess Durga or as
Naini Mata the goddess beside the lake in Nainital.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The love of the Mother Goddess is indeed huge for all. It appears to me that it is especially strong for
those who lived by the lake as infants or came to love her with a pure heart
even later in life and that she ever protects them even as a loving mother protects
a child . She too has no defined form; therefore the picture chosen for this
post is just some flowers I collected from the garden for my morning prayers,
flowers in colors I think she loves much.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">E</span>ver since Nainital was established as a town and district in the Central Himalayas more than a century ago
during the days of the British Empire, bureaucrats, politicians, mystics
and others of Nainital have exerted their influence on the affairs of humanity
across the planet. This year 2016, some watched American elections with much
interest because being the largest economy and military power in the world, its
influence on all humans across the planet, not just in America, is
huge. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The clear favorite of most was Bernie Sanders at first
because in his words were the messages of love, truth and simplicity so loved
by Baba Hairakhan, the most recent divine manifestation in the district of
Nainital in human form. However, later, when he dropped out of the race, the choice of many fell on
Donald Trump even though he is new and unconventional as a politician and that causes fear of uncertain outcomes for many. However in him was hope of a break from many established practices, some that are not making the world a better place for 99% of humanity.<br />
<br />
Few Nainital lovers, if any, supported the Clintons because she
represented status quo and to them everything that has gone wrong with the world
over the last three or four decades. These include increasing instability in
the Middle East, millions of distressed refugees, destruction of whole cities and deaths of children, bank
led financial crisis, rising inequality, homelessness and hunger and an
increasing enrichment of the wealthiest on the planet and the politicians who
work in co-operation with them which includes the Clintons. Nevertheless there is much goodness
and sweetness deep within Hillary beyond the influences of what has made her
what she is now and this blogger had rushed a series of tweets to her early in
her bid to inform that divine wisdom seems against her attempt and it might be
best for her to consider stepping out and spend her retirement in peace but perhaps all was
not in her control.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
This blogger does not know if Russian and other governments
influenced the American elections and to what extent but God most definitely
did as did the lovers of Naini Mata, the eternal goddess of Nainital, the
goddesses Nanda and Sunanda and the loving god Hanuman who stands at the gate
of the temple of the goddess in Nainital not just in his own abodes at Hanuman
Garhi and across the universe, and whose lucky charm even Barack Obama carries
in his pocket. These divinities just represent different manifestations of the
one divine universal consciousness that is Infinite and with a form beyond
comprehension.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Today, this Tuesday the 17th of January, a few
days before the inauguration of Donald Trump, a day when the influence of God
Hanuman is most apparent across the planet, this blogger and lover of Nainital
offers a prayer for the very real Donald Trump, May the Lord strengthen his
hands and will to lessen problems mentioned in the last paragraph and make not
just America great but all of humanity great and everything good humanity
represents, to the extent that is possible by human hands.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">A</span>s a result of fate and destiny, I have lived in many
different continents and parts of the world in my brief something life of sixty
and some years. My experience tells me that it is fate and destiny where one
ends up living rather than one’s own choices in the matter.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>As I look back, it is clear that the happiest
periods of my life were spent in Nainital with the grace of the Goddess of
Nainital – <a href="http://www.amazon.in/Naini-Mata-Goddess-Nainital-1/dp/1461159229">Naini
Mata</a> – and the Lord. I spent my <a href="http://someitemshave.blogspot.in/2014/04/my-childhood-home.html">childhood</a>
in Nainital and have visited later whenever opportunity permitted. The
scriptures assert that when one leaves this body and is born again in a new
life, it is usually in a place that is most on one’s mind during one’s last
days and I suspect in my case it shall be Nainital.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The District of Nainital is indeed one of the most beautiful
districts on our planet with a diverse flora and fauna depending on where one
is in the district with the Naintal town in its center. Unlike the plains, in
Himalayan districts, the flora and fauna can change dramatically every few
thousand yards. This is because it depends on the height from sea level, the
sunshine as determined by shading of the specific hill that surrounds it and
the extent of moisture at the location which too varies dramatically across the
district depending on location of lakes, rivers and springs that run through the
district. Nainital is indeed a beautiful district and it is up the people who
live there and others who love it to make contributions to ensure it remains so. Over the
past six decades, unplanned development, human greed and careless governments
have compromised this beauty it in its most inhabited parts that include Nainital Town
and the Town of Haldwani
in its plains.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Wishing a Happy New Year 2017 to all who love Nainital! May
the Goddess Naini Mata bless them.</div>
