A Magical Mantra Recital of Nainital

Among the various single word mantras for meditation and chanting, the divine name Ram is one of the most excellent and easiest to practice. In my mystic travels through Nainital District in the summer of 2007, I learnt a particularly beautiful and rhythmic way to recite this mantra. Its effects were magical. Some of those effects have been described by me in another blog devoted to spirituality. This recitation was recently recorded by me in three YouTube videos so as to make them available to any interested person. One of them is as shown with this post. Ancient records describe that Ram was also the favorite mantra of Lord Hanuman a divinity revered highly in Nainital, India and all over East Asia. Ancient recorded descriptions of Hanuman ji vary from nation to nation. It is because, no human can fully know or understand the divine and therefore all human words about Him and His Angels are approximate attempts. Shree Hanuman Chalisa - Mantra Par Excellence

The power of mantra Jap or repetition of select holy words has been a time tested technique of spiritual development. The recitation of a mantra stills the mind and drives consciousness closer to its original source. At other times consciousness gets attached to activities of a finite mind and its small finite powers. Some decades ago when modern researchers began to research effect of mantra recitation on humans, some came to conclusion that even the recitation of nonsense words like coco cola rather than selected sacred ones were producing benefit. However it is a grave mistake to do that because in meditative states consciousness becomes open to connections in the universe and then there is danger that nonsense or evil of the universe shall enter it.Whatever the mind focuses on, that it tends to attain. A modern computer user may compare this to his experience of a computer. When not connected to the net, its powers are limited to that on the finite computer...

About Mantras and their Nainital origin

Photo shows roof of Naini Mata temple in Nainital A face book friend and cousin - Pardeep - posted something this morning about a Mantra on his wall: Mantra Dhaarnaa Yon Kar, Vidhi Se Le Kar Naam Japiye Nishchaya Achal Se, Shakti-Dhaam Sri Ram These verses in Hindi may be translated as: From right Teacher learn right technique of repetition of right name Then mediate with greatest faith, Upon the Lord’s most vital name I fully agree with my dear cousin that the chanting of Mantras done correctly is a powerful technique, even magical. That is the reason one has magicians chanting spells in fairy tales to perform magic. Recently a college classmate and dear friend got into serious legal difficulties. His name is Rajat Gupta. Until recently he was one of the most senior corporate executives on our planet well known to Prime Ministers and Presidents including Obama and Clinton. He can be found in Wikepedia. However, amongst some of his friends were also some...
