Merry Christmas and Children

Humans err in trying to find the worthiest among rich and famous. They are just like many among us, many are just better at feathering their nests, often by exploiting other humans. The worthiest of humans may more easily be found among simple hermits and others living in quiet isolated abodes. No wise and compassionate human can accumulate a huge amount of wealth and be proud of that when there are millions of children suffering from hunger or malnutrition. Saint Kabir has stressed this point. Only a few humans can find contentment in the simplicity of a hermit. Most must continue to strive in the world for needs they perceive as essential for themselves and their families. But all can strive to reserve a portion of their time and energy to serve the world around them. It is only then that one becomes deserving of help from the Universe. Little can be achieved without such help. Our very breath comes because the Universe cares for us every moment of our lives. It is be...

Kingdom of Piland Chronicles

https://www.amazon.com/dp/1977643418 T he Kingdom of Piland Chronicles is a record of the doings of a new Kingdom established in a seemingly unclaimed portion of the Antarctica in July 2014. As stated in the chronicles, due to the remoteness and cold nature of the kingdom, no significant activity has taken place  in the kingdom, at least as yet. Nevertheless, some of its stated policies are significant enough for the rest of the world to draw inspiration from. First is the policy of running a democracy by creating the parliament from a random selection of citizens and not permitting the concept of a political party or elections. This idea has been drawn from ancient Athens. In this manner the kingdom completely avoids the role of money in elections and selection of persons who work for money rather than people. The chronicles contain detailed arguments for this policy. The second significant initiative is to tie its currency to gold. The five hundred dollar coin of th...

Hanuman Chalisa in English

The importance of Hanuman Chalisa has been described in an earlier post . (click on link to see). It was originally composed in Hindi (Awadhi) by Tulsidas. At the present time there are many persons around the world who would like to recite this mantra but are unfamiliar with the Hindi Script. Many transcriptions in English are available on the net, each with some variations. The present version is a fresh attempt that has tried to remain as close as possible to the original pronunciation. However the interested person can get many song versions of this on the net to learn the correct pronunciation while using this text to read simultaneously. After a few attempts, just reading will suffice to yield, more or less, the correct pronunciation. It is not necessary to be able to read the Hanuman Chalisa in the original or any other script. Many illiterate persons have derived full benefit from it after learning it by heart. What is necessary is to pronounce the words as co...

Naini Mata, Engineering Education and the Amrapali Institutes

For description see: http://aits-nainital.blogspot.in/2010/05/tree-plantation-marks-observance-of_06.html Some things are best kept private in silence at the time they happen but with passage of time one may reveal them as in this note, seven years having passed. Before we begin with the stated topic, it is necessary to say a bit about myself and my involvement in all of this From childhood, I have been interested in the spiritual and mystic side of life.   As completion of high school neared, the question arose in the family as to what career I should take up. My father was interested in an army or administrative career for me. It was the best practice in the family. However noting that such careers do not permit freedom to travel or choose places where one would live and work, I was against it. Therefore, I joined a program in engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology. During some training programs in industry, I was aghast at the confinement in narr...

Mother Goddess viewed from Nainital

S ome years ago when I visited Her temple beside the Lake in Nainital, I looked for a book on Her in stores nearby. I found a small one in Hindi by Dr. Kiran Kumari.   There was a need for another one in English describing much more about Her and Her place in the Universe. Therefore I decided to undertake this task. My background is one from Science yet I have had deep interests in the mystic side of life. Therefore when I wrote this book it was from this combined perspective. It must be admitted that the task was a difficult one and although the first attempt resulted in a book, it had shortcomings.. The loving Mother Naini Mata let her child try his hand at this homework on his own without active help. Parts of it were difficult to understand, even confusing. Therefore, recently I began work on new edition again. This new version has now been released at Amazon and other stores around the world in both paperback and electronic formats. It was also an opportunity to im...

Shree Hanuman Chalisa - Mantra Par Excellence

The power of mantra Jap or repetition of select holy words has been a time tested technique of spiritual development. The recitation of a mantra stills the mind and drives consciousness closer to its original source. At other times consciousness gets attached to activities of a finite mind and its small finite powers. Some decades ago when modern researchers began to research effect of mantra recitation on humans, some came to conclusion that even the recitation of nonsense words like coco cola rather than selected sacred ones were producing benefit. However it is a grave mistake to do that because in meditative states consciousness becomes open to connections in the universe and then there is danger that nonsense or evil of the universe shall enter it.Whatever the mind focuses on, that it tends to attain. A modern computer user may compare this to his experience of a computer. When not connected to the net, its powers are limited to that on the finite computer...

The closest equivalent of this Nainital Himalayan word is perhaps Hai rd khan

Pathway to Hairakhan, Pathways to Paradise

A photo of plains of Nainital District snapped from road to Hairakhan W hile Baba Hairakhan walked amongst us, he guided many through his blessings and words to pathways of bliss. Now that he is no longer among us physically, his blessings and intervention in life is still available to all who love him. Indeed it is available to others too, even those who never met him or any other saint or divinity that walked upon the face of Mother Earth, for when God sent forth souls into life, he inscribed knowledge on their hearts. The only difficulty is that most of us waste no time in smudging that knowledge with things like greed, lust and anger. Things like Love, truth and simplicity restore it. That is how saints help humans who approach them. Those who now wish to discover those paths for themselves with some guidance from saints through the ages can find it in this new book shared with all here: http://www.amazon.in/Mystic-Pathways-Love-Peace-Happiness/dp/154634...

How Nainital Inspired my New Novel – 2084 Babaji

2084 Babaji by Ashok Malhotra M uch of my spiritually inspired writing has its roots in Nainital. My new short novel 2084 Babaji too was inspired similarly. While many seem to connect it with the famous novel 1984 by George Orwell, the 2084 is the height of Nainital town in Kumaon. Either way, if you get a chance, do read this novel. In it is a story of our world, a little village in India and a mystic from the Himalayas. While being an engrossing story the book is interspersed with mystic knowledge that shall surely help to make the life of reader more meaningful and joyous. The book is available at Amazon at the following link as well as several other places if you google for it, https://www.amazon.com/2084-Babaji-Ashok-Malhotra/dp/1544761104 Note: The cover image shown here is different from the one in commercially available editions. A screenshot of some of  the images connected to this book on goolge images is below. Jai Baba haidakhan

Babaji Haidkhan was from God

I n an age when false teachers and fraud spiritual gurus may be found a dime a dozen, how can someone be  sure that Baba Haidakhan/ Hairakhan was a true teacher and not just another one of those false gurus. In fact false gurus are as old as human civilization and even ancient prophets have warned about them. It is however not difficult to discover them from their fruit. This post in another blog gives seven signs to discover the false ones and the godly ones. https://ashokbabaji.blogspot.in/2017/03/beware-of-evil-in-spiritual-robes.html Babaji of Haidkhan passes all the simple tests described at this link unlike very many others who claim to be gurus and messengers of God in the modern age.

Babaji or Baba Haidakhan/ Hairakhan and Religion

Image: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homa_(ritual)#/media/File:(A)_Hindu_puja,_yajna,_yagna,_Havanam_in_progress.jpg B abaji was a mystic who appeared in the Nainital Himalayas between 1970 and 1984. Many believe that he was a divine being that appears repeatedly in human body since times immemorial in the Himalayas with his appearance at Haidakhan being the most recent one. While his origins must remain a mystery, there is no doubt that he added much peace, happiness and beauty in the lives of all he touched and that his life and works were magical. Haidakhan is also spelt Hairakhan because the actual consonant sound used in the word in local language does not exist in English. It is actually something that is a bit like a mix of an R and a D sound. Like many other modern Gurus, Babaji did not accumulate any wealth or luxuries, did not ask anyone to change his religion or become his exclusive follower and devotee but rather encouraged all to remain free in hear...

Reason for adding Babaji in profile name

Jai Ma Nanda, Jai Sunanda Nanda Devi and Sunanda Devi: Main and East Summits (photo: Alex Moran) With permission f rom http://www.moran-mountain.co.uk/moran-mountaineering/Nanda%20Devi%20East.htm   S ome visitors the blog may have noted that my profile name has changed from just Ashok to Ashok Babaji. There is an interesting history to this name change published in the companion blog at: http://someitemshave.blogspot.in/2017/02/babaji-what-is-in-name.html The title Babaji added to the name of person, place or some other word is often used for any person whose primary interest in life becomes the spiritual side of life rather than the material or worldly one and who has attained sufficient progress in same to be able to help others too in their spiritual evolution. Some are divine personalities who appear as humans for brief periods to share their message of love and peace with other humans. Baba Hiadakhan, or Babaji of Haidakhan/Hiarakhan of Nainital di...
